DAY 3:
NEGATIVE SELF-TALK
10-Day Energy Cleanse by Abbie Payne & Amber Dobkins
Let’s talk about Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTs), those pesky thoughts that sneak into your mind and hold you back from reaching your full potential. Acting like sneaky saboteurs, ANTs often emerge suddenly, twisting your perception of reality and making you feel bad about yourself. They create a cycle of negativity that can be hard to escape. These thoughts might whisper that you're not good enough, that you'll fail, or that something bad will definitely happen. The tricky part is that they happen so quickly that you might not even realize they're occurring.
By learning to recognize and challenge these ANTs, you can rewire your brain for success. Imagine catching these negative thoughts in their tracks and transforming them into positive, empowering beliefs. Challenging negative thoughts takes practice, but the benefits are significant. As you become more skilled at recognizing and reframing these thoughts, you'll feel more confident, handle stress more effectively, and approach problems with a clearer, more positive mindset.
By becoming aware of these ANTs and questioning their validity, you can break free from their grip and open yourself up to new possibilities, like unlocking a door to a brighter, more optimistic you. Today, it's time to train your brain to be your biggest cheerleader instead of your worst critic. So, squash those ANTs and unleash your true potential!
Exercise:
1. Become Aware of Your Thoughts
Look for your ANTS. Examples of ANTS include:
• "I'm so stupid."
• "I can't do this."
• "No one likes me."
Take a few moments to sit quietly and reflect on your thoughts.
Ask yourself:
• What are your most common negative thoughts?
• How do these thoughts make you feel?
2. Transform the Thoughts
Here’s some examples of transforming negative thoughts into positive ones:
ANTs Thought
I am not worth anything.
I have never accomplished anything.
I always make mistakes.
I am a jerk.
I don’t deserve a good life.
I am stupid.
I can’t do anything right.
I'm unsuccessful.
I'm such a failure at everything I do.
I'm not good enough.
I'm always anxious and worried.
Positive Thought
I am a valuable person.
I have accomplished many things.
I do many things well.
I am a great person.
I deserve to be happy.
I am smart and capable.
I am improving every day.
I am capable of success.
I am learning from my setbacks.
I am enough just as I am.
I choose to focus on the positives.
Now, transform your negative thoughts into more positive ones.
